 Professor Ghanshyam Dhar: A Pillar of Higher Education in Jaipur

Professor Ghanshyam Dhar, an esteemed academic with advanced degrees in Hindi, Sociology, and Journalism, is a prominent figure in the realm of higher education in Jaipur. With over three decades of dedicated service at the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri Postgraduate College, he has earned a reputation as both an inspiring educator and a successful principal.

During his tenure, Professor Dhar served as Rector and Chief Proctor, overseeing the college’s Student Union, Sports, Cultural Activities, and the National Service Scheme (NSS). A notable achievement during his leadership in the NSS was the organisation of two 10-day Shramdaan camps in the 1980s, where he mobilised 100 volunteers to support the Khole ke Hanuman temple. His efforts culminated in the establishment of a magnificent Shiva Temple atop the mountain, which has since transformed into a significant pilgrimage site.

Before joining the college, Professor Dhar honed his skills as a journalist and public relations officer. He spent five years in the Directorate of Information and Public Relations for the Government of Rajasthan, contributing as a reporter and PR specialist. As a freelance journalist, he enriched the cultural landscape of Rajasthan through articles in publications such as Dainik Navjyoti, Nai Duniya, and An Dainik Varanasi.

A visionary leader, Professor Dhar is the founding president of the Rajasthan Gujarati Brahmin Gamaj and the founding principal of Aatmaram College in Bassi, Rajasthan. He holds key positions in various educational institutions run by Arya Samaj in Adarsh Nagar, Jaipur, and serves as the Secretary of Vidhya Samiti and V.B.M. Education Trust. Additionally, he is the Vice-President of the Shiksha Samiti at Maharishi Dayanand Law College and B.Ed. College.

As a respected member of the academic community, Professor Dhar is the sub-editor of the Aryaneeti fortnightly newspaper and has been an active member of the Pink City Press Club and the Public Relations Society of India for many years.

His unwavering commitment to education and community service continues to inspire both students and colleagues alike, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of higher education in the capital.
